Three full nights of bringing unhoused people in danger of cold and related injuries inside for chili, hot drinks, round table storytelling and a good night's sleep.
Between generous supplies drop-offs, callers concerned about folks they saw outside, restaurants donating food, people transporting folks to our space, and volunteers giving their time to help staff, our community helped us pull this off for THREE NIGHTS IN A ROW during this ruthless weather.
I can't overstate how amazing it's been to learn from members of Tenants United Hyde Park Woodlawn, Chicago Action Medical, Chicago DSA Libertarian Socialist Caucus, General Defense Committee, Chicago Recovery Alliance and others who organized this and are out here literally saving lives.
Shout outs to Virtue Restaurant, Maureen Real,Cholie's Pizza, Tamago Coffee and Bikes, and the many other community members and businesses that helped us offer delicious food and warm clothes all night.
